Process

I applied online and received a reply in about a week. A phone screen was scheduled.

The phone screen was mostly about my experience and felt more like a conversation.

The onsite interview was an amazing experience. Upon arriving at the Tinder office, the recruiters greeted me warmly and made me feel extremely welcome. The entire atmosphere of the office is very 'chill.' Employees all work together in one open office space, and everyone seemed passionate and happy at first glance. I loved it!

The interviews themselves were quite different from the standard fare. Every interviewer I met was enthusiastic and happy, which made me feel extremely comfortable. I don't believe I felt nervous at any point during the entire process, and after the interviews, I didn't feel mentally exhausted.

The questions were fairly customized to my resume; I wasn't solving a bunch of random algorithmic puzzles. They wanted to get to know me as a candidate and assess if I was a good fit. I solved two or three simple programming questions and several design questions.

After the interviews, a recruiter spoke with me and took the time to explain how stock options work, which was helpful as this is potentially my first job and I was unsure about them. He was also very honest about what working at Tinder is like, sharing his own personal experiences. I truly appreciated that.

Overall, I think Tinder is a great company with amazing people working there. I have interviewed with the Big Four – Microsoft, Apple, Google, and Amazon – as well as some mid-sized companies and another startup. Honestly, I can say that the process at Tinder was the best experience I've had. They respect you as a candidate and go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable.
