It was a multi-stage process.
First, there were a few conversations with a woman from HR, conducted by email and then by phone. She was convinced I was a good fit but wasn't sure about my technical skills. She then proceeded to ask me questions about concepts and structures that didn't exist in the language for which I was being interviewed. She seemed to think that my lack of knowledge of non-existent primitives and structures was a flaw. Nonetheless, I was escalated to a proper interview with the technical lead.
The tech lead was not much better. He asked a series of questions designed not to prove that I knew what I was doing, but rather that I had made the same decisions in life that he had with regard to my education and experience. This interview was short, and by the end of it, I think we were both happy I wasn't getting the job.
