Process

I applied online and they sent me a case study (a Java project). After one week, I sent my work back, hosted on a private Bitbucket repository.

They never asked for access to the repo.

Nonetheless, after one month, they sent me an email:

"Thank you for taking part in our Case Study for the position Junior Software Engineer - Java Backend Services and for sending us your results. Unfortunately, you have not made it to the next step. All Case Study results were carefully evaluated, and we can only proceed with the best performances."

They did not review my work. Total disrespect and lies.

Do not waste your time applying there; they clearly aren't worth it.

No upfront OKR setting for personalized professional and career development. No cutting-edge tech, or even the "right tool for the right job." Get ready to work on legacy systems with outdated tech stacks. Way too many ceremonies and meetings, whereas a developer, you don't get involved in product definition anyway, hence being just a code monkey. Get ready to blindly follow all the company's core values and do endless workshops about that. Software/Process quality is not a thing. Pros: Great to work for a year and/or enter the German/European market.

Cons: The company's strategy is: students or first job, young, without children. Don't expect to grow here. It started with remote, moved to "hybrid" (4 days a month in the office), and now we're back 3 days/week. You can't plan anything because things change every quarter, from teams to strategy and projects. You're required to be in the office, but you have to pay for expensive food in the building's kitchen, for bad food. It's better to walk 15 minutes and eat at the Hafen. Numbers shown in all-hands meetings don't add up. You'll see "47% presence in the office" while the floor is empty and dark 90% of the month. Makes one wonder about the rest.
