Salary. New Language. CHIPS Act required benefits.
Poor management. Micro-managers.
Long hours (scheduled 8 hours; reality 10-12 hours on average daily). Short timelines. High pressure. Low recognition. Berating of employees in meetings. Meetings extend beyond the time scheduled.
Be leaders, not micromanagers.
Recognize team members. Do not kowtow or hide behind "policy" or "this is our policy." That is an unsatisfactory reply to team members.
Questions about the company. Hardly any technical questions. Mostly just, "What do you know about us?" A hard-to-understand Taiwanese individual. It's alright; I didn't want to be overworked by them anyway. Best of luck to anyone being hired.
Two interviews: Phone call with recruiter: fairly relaxed, set up a meeting with the team. Interview with 3 managers: As a fresh graduate, they'll ask you mainly about research, class work, and work experience.
It was a basic behavioral interview over the phone to gauge my interest in the company, as well as see if I had basic knowledge about the role I was applying for.
