Engineering Manager Interview Experience - New York, New York

Process

I applied online, which was easy enough. I heard back from a recruiter and scheduled a 30-minute screening call.

During the screening, the recruiter called from the airport, in a very noisy and loud location. I could not hear them well and had to consistently ask them to repeat themselves. There is no way they heard everything I said with the loud announcements in the background.

The call seemed to go well, briefly discussing my experience and how my qualifications aligned with the posted job. The call appeared positive, except for the noise.

A few days later, I received an automatic rejection. Given the background noise, there is no way the recruiter could have accurately considered my application.
