Pros: Interesting technical problems on a product people use all the time.
Cons: Organizationally dysfunctional. Too many people in line-of-control conflicts at all levels of the company. After two rounds of layoffs, the ability to hire and retain talent is not great.

Work Here At Your Peril
Software Engineer • Current Employee
San Francisco, California, United States
September 16, 2025
Pros: Great pay with smart teammates if you're in the right organization. There is still a hint of the old engineering culture, but many have since left.
Cons: Lots of dishonest middle management and empire building. Lots of engineers who are overpaid to know nothing but copy-paste code.
Uber is a political organization, not an engineering one. You do not work here to learn or advance your career. You come here to pretend to do work.
