I initially thought people were overreacting to the negative reviews of Unity recruiters online, but it turns out they were right. The recruiters show a distinct lack of respect for candidates and appear to do the bare minimum in their work.
One recruiter asked me to set up a phone call, and I confirmed my availability. However, I didn't hear back until the day before the scheduled call. When I emailed them, the recruiter simply moved our meeting time on their calendar without any notification or apology for the sudden change, expecting me to accommodate it.
In another instance, I met a Unity recruiter at an event. When I inquired about future new grad opportunities, they sent me a link to the student career page. I had assumed recruiters would act as a resource and answer questions, not simply share a link to their landing page after I'd already mentioned checking their site.
Furthermore, does this recruiter not realize that student intern positions at Unity require the applicant to be a student, which I am not? It feels as though they actively discourage people from applying to their company.
