Step one was a phone screen and coding homework that was kind of fun and open-ended. Step two was an informal visit to the office, which included an overview of the culture, a tour of the office, and some casual in-person conversations. Step three was more formal. It involved additional skill testing, situational questions, and meeting various team members from different disciplines.
All of the people that I met were friendly. They seemed happy to be at Vimeo. They were generally engaged in our conversations, and I didn't feel like I was being grilled. At the same time, they were thoughtful about the questions asked and made sure that I provided complete answers that they understood before moving on. I could tell that they want to protect and keep a good thing going.
It was made clear in multiple steps of the process that this place prioritizes the happiness of the team and a positive, supportive culture. It also helps that the content is engaging and the staff is active in the community. These are the reasons why I accepted the offer.
