Senior Software Engineer Interview Experience - India

Process

The first part was a coding round, which was conducted on CodeSignal.

The second part was a coding interview. The interviewer began by asking about generative AI. For the Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) question, I was asked to find the optimal solution to determine the maximum element in an array, and then the second maximum.

Frankly, this was disheartening. After that, I was asked to write an entire JSP with Spring MVC classes and code. When I pointed out that I was specifically told this would be a coding round with DSA, the interviewer stated that she had already asked me to write the code.

Had I been informed properly, I would have made sure to learn the syntax as well. To this, she responded that she couldn't do anything with theory. While her point was valid, it felt like a setback, especially after I had spent hours each day preparing.
