Process

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months.

I interviewed for two different roles at Visa: Full Stack (Front end, backend, devops, Agentic AI hands-on) and AI Engineer (AI Workflow Integration). I submitted my application in August 2026. Initially, I was considered for one role, and after approximately one month, my application was moved forward for consideration for another role in September. In October, I received rejection notifications for both roles.

The interview process consisted of the following stages:

  • Round 0 – Online Assessment: HackerRank assessment involving medium- and hard-level coding problems.
  • Round 1 – Technical Interview: Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA), problem-solving, live coding, and system design.
  • Rounds 2 and 3: Behavioural and technical interviews.

I successfully cleared the online assessment and progressed to the first technical interview, which covered DSA, system design, and live coding. However, I did not progress to the subsequent rounds. After approximately one month of waiting, I received a rejection email without specific feedback on my interview performance.

The process involved multiple stages and a considerable waiting period. The process included an online assessment with medium- and hard-level coding problems involving data structures such as linked lists and hash maps. The subsequent technical round covered data structures and algorithms, problem-solving, live coding, and system design. The interviews were technically engaging, and I was able to execute my code and explain my approach to the interviewer. The interaction seemed positive, and the interviewer indicated that things were going well. However, I was later informed by the recruitment team that the feedback was not positive. For the first role, I received the outcome after approximately two weeks. I was subsequently considered for another role, but the outcome was also negative after about a week.

Pros

  • Good exposure to technical problem-solving and live coding.
  • Opportunity to demonstrate coding skills and system design knowledge.

Cons

  • The job descriptions covered a very broad range of responsibilities and technical skills.
  • The interview interaction felt positive, but the final feedback did not align with my understanding of how the interviews went.
  • More specific feedback on areas for improvement would have made the experience more constructive.
  • Clearer communication about the recruitment timeline and evaluation criteria would improve the candidate experience.

Suggestions for Improvement Visa could improve the candidate experience by providing more transparent feedback, clearer expectations regarding the technical scope of each role, and better communication throughout the recruitment process.
