Worse Interview Experience!
As an SRE, we focus on multiple areas of the entire application and infrastructure.
Interview Process: The interviewer suddenly started with random definitions of Java topics. I clearly stated that I can debug and write code in Java/Python, but definitions are not something I'm prepared for.
He copied a question from a random source and asked me to solve it after asking 2-3 questions.
The program was lengthy and in Java, which required full top-to-end coding in an IDE. I started explaining my approach, but he directly said he just needed the code. After only 15 minutes, he lost his patience and asked me to be quick as he had more to ask. He didn't even give me time to get rid of a few errors and compile. (I'm guaranteed that the interviewer didn't have any clue or know how to write code).
Then, he asked a few random questions about Python, Java (memory management), SQL, Prometheus, and Grafana. The questions didn't have any defined topic; he was just asking whatever came to his mind, even though the focus area of the interview was coding and problem-solving.
Simply put, at the end, during feedback, he directly said I wasn't capable and not up to the defined standard.
I just wonder how an interviewer like him got through Visa.
In my 9+ years of experience, I have never faced such an interviewer.
God bless the Visa team going forward.
Write a Java program to solve the following problem:
You are given a list of words and a pattern. Return a list of all words that match the given pattern.
A word matches the pattern if there exists a permutation of letters p so that after replacing every letter x in the pattern with p(x), you get the desired word.
Example:
Input: words = ["abc", "deq", "mee", "aqq", "dkd", "ccc"], pattern = "abb"
Output: ["mee", "aqq"]
