Senior Software Engineer Interview Experience - Bengaluru, India

Process

I received a call from a Walmart Labs recruiter and scheduled a Zoom call for the next day.

This was the worst interview I have ever faced.

Not a single question was asked to test problem-solving skills or core concepts necessary for day-to-day work or learning new technologies. The interviewer simply expected answers about what they themselves had done or were currently doing, not questions based on my resume. They asked about things one rarely uses, which is incredibly difficult for anyone to remember.

Questions

  1. FTP and SFTP: How to make a secure connection using SFTP. (I did not mention anything related to this, and he was expecting an answer from me.)
  2. What is GraphQL and how is it different from REST? (I did not mention anything related to this, and he was expecting an answer from me, though I answered basic about GraphQL.)
  3. He was expecting the Spring Boot configuration, like someone who had mugged up the configuration.
