I applied through a friend for a Senior Software Engineer position. The interviews started with a regular recruiter interview, followed by a standard coding screening video interview, and finally an onsite one consisting of five rounds of interviews:
The interviews were okay, though I was asked almost nothing about technical background that I would have used in real life (except for the system design interview and tech screening).
What is very frustrating, and a shame for a company like this, is not receiving proper feedback on what went wrong or what could be improved, despite being promised it.
The recruiter ignores emails. He might find this amusing or consider me as noise, but I invested time and effort. It's perfectly acceptable to not be a match at this point in time. As a return on investment, and as in any respectable company, you are supposed to provide proper feedback.
The total interview time was not less than 8 hours, in addition to many more hours spent preparing for them. I will never get this time back, which is only acceptable if I receive something in return (e.g., feedback). The recruiter's treatment was very rude, unprofessional, and disrespectful.
