- Free platforms to help with learning.
- In the engineering department I was in, the leadership did care about people.
- Very stressful and expectations are over the roof.
- Responsibilities of various roles such as operational engineer, DevOps, database engineer, infrastructure engineer, and test engineer are all expected from an application engineer.
- Quite bureaucratic, and if you are not comfortable vocalizing opinions in large groups, then it gets challenging to survive.
- Very heavy focus on visibility and over-communicating.
- Less internal mobility options in engineering, as high experience in every role is expected.
Reduce the pay for engineering and reduce responsibilities, and spread them out to avoid burnout.
