Senior Java/J2EE Developer Interview Experience - New York, New York

Process

Very long waiting time, less number of panel. I felt the panel itself was exhausted or not well prepared. Lack of basic Java concepts. Make sure the panel is strong enough to take someone's interview.

As per the panel:

  1. Overloading can never happen in parent-child classes; only overriding is possible.
  2. 'Final' doesn't ensure a variable to be constant.
  3. Confused about Singleton and immutable classes.
  4. No class is derived from the Object class.
  5. Not aware of the concept of constructor chaining. As per him, the Object class constructor is never called.

Above are basics, and he is not aware of Java concepts.

He will make you feel that you don't know Java.

I told him I am not good in a particular area, and he started asking questions on that. Multiple times I told him I never worked in that particular area, but he was like, "You try to answer something."

Don't know what he was expecting.

Pathetic interview. If you really want to make jokes of what you have learned, then go here. Don't waste your time here.

I will suggest at least having a system while taking an interview; make sure the interviewer should Google and know the correct answer.

Questions

Basic Java questions.

Panel himself not aware of answers.
