This was the absolute worst interview experience and process.
I cleared the technical screens and received manager approval during team matching, but the executive team denied the hiring decision for an unknown reason.
They are so stuck on the references section that it almost seems like references are very important.
I am very disappointed with the hiring committee. This speaks volumes about their transparency principles.

Pros: Working with great people for the same goal to change e-commerce through livestream shopping. It's a challenging but fun experience. There are a lot of benefits and fun events, like team/company offsites.
Cons: We all move pretty fast here, so timelines are often pretty aggressive, but it's the reason for the hyper-growth and the huge potential ahead of us.

Pros: When it comes to salary and benefits, Whatnot is hands down a total leader in the industry. You would be hard-pressed to find a more generous offer at another company, especially one that is fast-growing like this one.
Furthermore, the opportunity you have here with this product and growth is outstanding! Have an immediate impact, avoid meetings (we avoid meetings as a rule here!), and get your stuff to the customer!
Cons: At a company that grows this fast, you are bound to get some weird, self-interested political behaviors that cloud the overall good feelings. There is definitely a sense of "every person for themselves" here, and you've got to play the game.

Pros: Passionate company and team, working with power users of the app so the feedback loop is strong. Users tell us what they want to build on. Buyers/sellers (compared to big tech where the feedback loop is harder).
Great remote working policy with tech hubs in NY, SF, LA. It's optional to come in; offices are an additional asset to utilize, on top of regular offsites and in-person working sessions.
Cons: Not the company for everyone, for folks looking to put in their hours but not for faster career growth and (hopeful) bigger payouts.
