Process
In the pair-programming round, I got the question on circuit breaker. They gave an object-oriented skeleton code with some placeholders to fill up.
Evaluation criteria would be mostly on:
- If you knew about the circuit breaker before
- If you are able to think and propose multiple approaches
- How well you can collaborate with the interviewer
You need not write syntax-perfect code, as you need not compile or execute it, but the code should be optimized enough with the right data structures. I found the overall experience to be quite good and easier than FAANG.

Pros: TransferWise has an amazing company culture, which can be sensed on a daily basis as well as during the company's annual Summer Days.
The teams at TransferWise have a lot of autonomy, which means that you really get to have an impact on the product and mold it even as an intern.
Cons: I was placed in a team without a specific mentor. A mentor would have been very helpful, at least during the first month, in order to make my introduction to the codebase smoother.

Good place for learning about product engineering. They pushed you to contribute more to the product itself.
Cons: No drama, but in fact some drama happens.
Put out ego, but there are a lot of egocentric people in the company.
I have high expectations and seemed happy for the first few months, until I was humiliated by one person's comment on my feedback.
One out of nine people who reviewed me gave very good feedback; one guy had mostly critics.
I just hope I can pass it.

Okay, work culture, bad promotion and compensation opportunities

Pros: Good opportunity to travel, with fully funded trips to Estonia twice a year.
Mission-driven company.
Cons: The engineering review process has become very subjective, and salary and growth opportunities are much less than at other companies. Wise is still paying heavily under market. Support for junior engineers is definitely not enough, and the mentorship culture is lacking. Support for women in engineering is abysmal from management.
