Software Engineer - New Grad Interview Experience - Sunnyvale, California

November 1, 2013
Positive ExperienceNo Offer

Process

Gave resume at school career fair and received a call after about two weeks.

Had one phone screen. After the phone screen, got a reply within two days for an on-site interview.

One on-site interview: 3 rounds, 45 minutes each, at Yahoo headquarters. Two weeks later, and I haven't heard from them.

Questions

None that I could think of. I prepared everything from CareerCup, Yahoo questions, and a programming interviews book. I didn't have an offer at the time I was writing this.

  1. Find the right cousin of a given node.
  2. Simple OOP and data structure questions, and lots of simple questions checking my ability to handle things in O(log n) complexity.
  3. Binary search – this took me into a situation where I wrote code in three different programming languages.
