Positive ExperienceGot Offer

Process

The interview was pretty swift. Unlike people here mentioning a late reply from HR, I got a reply within a week, maybe because of my other offer deadline. I had:

One phone screen
One coding challenge onsite
Three F2F interviews

I really liked the Yahoo office and culture there and will accept the offer.

Flexible, Friendly But Shrinking

Pros: Yahoo is one of the oldest internet companies in the world. Some of the managers I have seen are in their mid-30s or 40s. Clearly, they are the company's legacy. Working time is flexible. There will be a mentor for each new employee. It's a nice and friendly environment.

Cons: The size of the company is shrinking. It gives me a little unsafe feeling.

Pros: Good environment, good people, good facilities, good pay, flexibility, variety of technical groups, and good scope for growth are also present.

Cons: Low share value, as good as peanuts. A mix of media and technology, so to say, not totally a technology company.

Lack of innovation

November 18, 2013

Pros: Free food, multiple onsite events.

Cons: Lack of innovation in most of the teams. Change is not welcome. There is constant denial of better products in the market. There is no clear career path as teams are huge and have dual power centers. The manager knows so little as compared to the tech lead, who virtually dictates the entire project.
