Zendesk Singapore is not the Zendesk you think you're applying to. If these practices are company-wide, then I'm double disappointed. I withdrew my application.
I have been in and out of their interviews for the past 4 months. I spent at least 3 days' worth of time on the interviews. I even took some of the interviews twice!
Twice, they called me to say something along these lines:
"...the interview is very positive, but we'd like to see other candidates because you don't have an urgency and because you did solo development for the last couple of years (the weirdest excuses I've ever heard). We'll let you know in a month, but it can be longer or shorter; we don't know..."
I find this behavior very unprofessional and unethical. Whether a candidate has an urgency or not is none of your business, neither is whether the candidate did solo development for some time or not. You either say yes or no.
In the end, I decided that a company that's unable to decide whether to accept or reject, and that doesn't value my time or life, cannot be a company for me. It certainly is not the Zendesk I dreamed I was applying for, so I withdrew my application.
I came here to write about all the weird things that happened in detail, but I realized this is still stealing my time. I've already spent way too much time on them, and I don't want to spend any more.
My advice is: approach with caution.
