Job Description
Meter is a vertically integrated infrastructure provider that combines hardware, software, and operations to align incentives, remove friction, and lower costs in the internet infrastructure space. They are seeking a Model Engineer to join their founding core AI team in San Francisco. As a Model Engineer, you will build, train, and scale neural networks from the ground up using Python and Pytorch. The role involves the full lifecycle of model development, from data cleaning and pipeline building to evaluation, benchmarking, and fine-tuning. You will train end-to-end models for fault prediction, network state modeling, and autonomous repair. You'll also build multi-modal models over structured networking data, performing function-calling for network decisions. The company offers a competitive compensation package, including base salary and significant equity with potential for substantial growth. They are committed to working together in person, with a minimum of three days a week required in the San Francisco office. This is a great opportunity to modernize the networking industry with AI and work directly with the founders to define modeling approaches and team culture.
Responsibilities
- Train end-to-end models for fault prediction, network state modeling, and autonomous repair
- Build multi-modal models over structured networking data, performing function-calling for network decisions
- Evaluate model performance over real-world hardware and virtualized environments
- Work directly with founders to define modeling approaches, team culture, and long-term vision
- Ship models into production networks and collaborate closely with firmware and application teams
- Set technical direction for the AI effort to modernize the networking industry
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience building, training, and scaling neural networks from the ground up
- Strong background in Python and ML coding (Pytorch)
- Comfortable with the full lifecycle of model development, from data cleaning and pipeline building to evaluation, benchmarking, and fine-tuning
- Post-academic experience in model development
- Open to PhD dropouts/PhD grads as long as they have completed top industry internships or have startup experiences
