Quandela, a French deeptech company at the forefront of quantum computing, is seeking an Application Support Engineer specializing in Quantum Algorithms. This role represents a unique opportunity to be part of Europe's first photonic quantum computer deployment through the EuroQCS-France consortium.
The position involves working with Quandela's quantum computing infrastructure, including their open-source simulation library Perceval and their quantum programming platform Merlin. You'll be stationed between Massy and CEA's Très Grand Centre de Calcul (TGCC) in Bruyères-le-Châtel, where you'll play a crucial role in supporting researchers using the quantum systems.
As the primary point of contact for GENCI/CEA researchers, you'll ensure that Europe's first photonic quantum computer is accessible, reliable, and impactful. Your responsibilities will include debugging quantum algorithms, managing technical support tickets, providing training, and maintaining documentation. You'll work closely with both the research community and Quandela's internal teams, bridging the gap between theoretical quantum computing and practical applications.
The ideal candidate should have strong Python programming skills, experience with quantum frameworks, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly. Knowledge of HPC or applied mathematics/QML is important, and experience in research environments is highly valued. The role offers a competitive salary range of €45,000-60,000, comprehensive health coverage, and the opportunity to work with a diverse, international team of experts.
This isn't just a support role – it's a strategic position that will help shape the future of quantum computing in Europe. You'll be instrumental in ensuring that pioneering quantum algorithms become real applications on a national-scale system, contributing directly to Europe's quantum computing roadmap through 2030 and beyond.
