What are some recommended courses for getting hired as ML engineer

I have been a SE, coding in Java, I am on a career break right now and want to start interviewing in 6 -8 months. Given the time frame, I am wondering that it's a good time to switch and move into data roles. There are many career paths I see here but in order to go deep, what shd I do.?

Don't jump on the latest trends. Focus on getting good at writing code in some modern language by quite frankly writing more code.

    There's some good content here:

I can't pick your niche for you, but here are some good constraints I wish I knew. Pick something that

    • won't require you to make a top-tier ML conference paper
    • has a mid-size open-source library (5-15k Github stars) that you can be a Top 3 contributor in within 3-6 months
    • is actually interesting to you. You don't need to already be a user, but you should have an actual interest in playing around with adjacent tools

    Hope this saves you time

**I wrote this in case you pursue ML. Although you did mention "data roles"
