Is it Normal to Have Interviewers 3+ Levels Above Your Target Role?

I have final round interviews at Meta coming up, and based on LinkedIn profiles, my interviewers include one Distinguished Engineer, two Directors, and one Senior Engineering Manager. I'm targeting an E4 position, but it seems like my interviewers are at much higher levels (E8, E9 x 2, E7). Is it normal to have interviewers at such high levels for an E4 role?

Wow, this is super weird. 2 directors and 1 senior EM is also strange as M-track folks usually only do system design and behavioral interviews, so you should have 2 max.

Regardless, this doesn't change anything. Good luck on your interview and follow the advice here: "How does the Meta interview work?"

No, that's fairly rare. Assuming the level based on title is imperfect, though -- how confident are you that they're actually that senior? It might be some amount of title inflation, i.e. the person you think is E7 is E6 or E6 in reality.

You can bring this up with the recruiter, you can ask if it's possible to chat with people at a similar level to you, since their day-to-day will be more representative.
