Pros

Solid benefits package.

Every employee is given a dedicated career counselor who helps them with career progression and role change.

Training and upskilling are encouraged, and allowances are given to cover training costs/time.

The breadth of roles on offer due to the wide array of clients that the company has.

Cons
  • Middle management bloat is a major issue.

  • Overtime is often expected, regardless of what is said to the contrary, and often unpaid.

  • The image sold of the company, at the 'cutting edge of technology,' mostly applies only to work in the research and innovation centre in The Dock. The reality is that banks and public services make up the majority of Accenture's client base, and their work environment is much more traditional.

  • The level of churn each year is considerable, and gaps are filled with a constantly increasing intake of graduate hires.

  • Do not expect to progress in Accenture unless you pour large chunks of your spare time into 'giving back' to the company through 'value-add' work, over and above your core role hours. There will always be someone looking for something extra from you or looking for you to do something extra for them.

  • Graduate hire is largely a numbers game to put people in seats and hit quotas rather than focusing on the best people for the roles available. Graduates are hired and placed into developer roles without having ever written a line of code before their onboarding training. The onboarding training that all graduates complete when they are hired is extremely rudimentary, and once that is completed, graduates are deemed ready to go 'out into the field.'

  • It is not as easy to move roles within the company as it is made to seem before you apply.
