I received an email from a recruiter, and a Calendly invite was sent to select a time slot.
The interviewer was five minutes late and appeared to have joined from a mobile device, which is understandable given it was late in the evening. I could not hear the interviewer clearly due to a poor connection. I requested a fair chance.
The interviewer was generally rude. While discussing one of the questions, he stated he disliked my solution and wanted me to remove a line of code. He further commented that nobody uses that particular syntax anymore, as it's been ages since ES6 was released.
The syntax in question involves preserving the value of "this" in a variable and passing it to an inner-scoped function when calling it in the script. He wanted me to use ES6 syntax, which I mentioned has both pros and cons, but he insisted this syntax is no longer in use.
He seemed confused himself, as he was unprepared to ask variations of a similar question. He initially started with "maximum sum of contiguous sub-array" and then moved on to "maximum sum of contiguous sub-array in a cyclic array." In both cases, he kept changing the data set, adding to the confusion.
His attitude seemed to be on the side of "pass this interview if you can."
The biggest blow came towards the end of the interview when he commented on my attire. Without any permission, he remarked that I should be wearing better clothes for an interview. I was wearing a cut-sleeved shirt and shorts. I did not expect such a comment from a multinational company like Adobe.
