Solutions Architect Interview Experience - Denver, Colorado
Process
Was referred by an Akamai employee for a Solutions Architect position in the Denver office.
Round 1 - HR round: Basic HR questions, basic technical questions on DNS and HTTP(S), and customer-facing experience details.
Round 2 - Hiring Manager: Discussion revolved around my previous work experience. Technical questions about DNS, HTTP, HTTPS, web page requests and responses, etc.
Round 3 - Onsite: 5 interviews onsite.
- With Hiring Manager - Technical
- With Senior SA - Technical
- With Principal SA - technical + lot of “what would you do if a customer said” type situational questions
- With SA II - Technical + puzzles for checking how you think out of the box
- Panel interview - Panel consisted of 6 members from the hiring team, all senior-level employees. Had to present a whiteboard session on a technical topic of your choice for 1 hour. Lot of questions on details of the topic presented.
The whole process took 35-40 days.

They have very frequent layoffs. You can lose your job anytime. What happens is they have managers who have spent more than a decade here. They hire employees and when layoffs are announced, they remove them. Hence, they are able to retain their jobs while ruining other people’s livelihoods. The tech stack is too old. You won’t learn anything. The upper management is too busy retaining these master politicians. If you have an alternate offer, take it. Oh, and the RSU is worth nothing. They cannot make bold decisions of throwing these people out and retaining actual talent.
