Amazing work-life balance.
Very cushy job.
Amex tends to hire older, more experienced engineers for their backend, which is nice because these guys are off at 4 o'clock sharp.
I don't think Amex does a good job promoting from within. Also, for Engineering, it is a very top-down organization.
I was given a Codility challenge out of the blue months after I applied, without any prior notifications. It consisted of three easy questions without multiple language choices, but I imagine it's different per recruiter. I passed and had a phone ca
The interviewer asked me technical questions over the phone that were problem-solving teasers. He also asked me about the memory allocation of int, char, boolean, etc. He also asked about memory allocation errors and how to prevent them.
First round is an online HireVue with behavioral questions and MC. The second round is 1 hr 45 min behavioral plus technical with two engineers. I'm not sure if that's the final round, though.
