American Express obviously impacts a lot of people, and the work is undoubtedly important in that sense. The technology group is large, with many opportunities over different stacks and products. The intern program is very good, with plenty of fun and an effort always made to keep the interns engaged. Many managers do an excellent job of listening to their employees and keeping them interested.
The technology itself is outdated and not very exciting to work on, although this seems to be changing slowly. At any large corporation, it is difficult to feel that your work specifically is impactful.
