AT&T has a huge footprint. There are lots of opportunities to move around if you are willing to move your family.
The company is very old school telecommunication. It keeps fooling itself into thinking it is a technology company, but it won't invest like one. Year after year of layoffs and re-organization completely kills any morale to work hard.
