Full Stack Developer Interview Experience - Australia

Process

I had a disappointing experience with Atlassian's interview process.

First, I applied and was given a challenge to complete. I passed that part, and three days later, I received an email to book a Skype interview with Ross.

Ross called me and started asking me questions. I answered most of them. Then he asked if I had experience with Angular. I said no, and he stated he was going to be honest with me, explaining they needed someone with deep knowledge of Angular.

The catch is, the job description did not require Angular!

I wouldn't have spent so much time on the challenge if I had known it required Angular in the first place.

So, I think this confirms what other people have said: that they do not even need new people. They just advertise jobs to test the market. It seems he was there to eliminate candidates rather than find suitable ones.
