Had a good HR initial phone screen and was told about the next steps for a tech phone interview. I was completely ghosted afterwards, and didn't even get a chance to set up the tech phone interview.

Pros: ShipIt days and innovation weeks provide many opportunities to try out new things.
Personal budget and time are given for attending conferences and attending courses.
Morally unambiguous business model.
Cons: Depending on which team you are in, even being a senior engineer can be too low to have any impact on architectural decisions or the choice of technologies used by your team.

No work-life balance. Too much competition within teams
Senior Software Engineer • Current Employee
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
October 10, 2024
Pros: Work remotely
Good compensation
Good parental leave
Cons: Every six months, there is a performance review process. The engineers are compared to each other, and the bottom 5% is fired.
This creates extreme competition within the team, and nobody is really keen to help each other. It's all about showing impact.
People are working 10+ hours daily with the fear of being fired.
The company measures the number of PRs and lines of code per individual. This creates meaningless changes, and a lot of time is wasted in this process.

Pros: - Flexible working environment with decent work-life balance.
- If you are lucky, you may get a chance to work on some interesting projects.
Cons: Performance feedback can be delivered abruptly and without proper context.
There is no clear or fair dispute process for addressing questionable management decisions.
Some mid-managers wield unchecked authority, ignoring contributions and contradicting the company’s values. They could try to ruin your life by judging you using their personal measures, not Atlassian standards/values.
Hidden racism.
