Pros

Decent compensation for Toronto area, although not top of the line. Good benefits. Complex, impactful project with a lot of unknowns and growth opportunities.

Cons

Management not living up to the mission. Little communication about the plans and direction. Little to no time for team-scope planning, design and implementation. Trying to run without crawling. Trying to run a start-up but things have go through upper management. Any feedback you provide feels dismissed. People cycling in and out. No strong product team. Discouraging that the stock plan got cut without a balancing of total compensation.

Advice to Management

Do not try to go for a start-up pace all of a sudden with ginormous scopes, do not give unrealistic deadlines, do not try to shift the burden of unknown requirements on developers, do not stay silent about such decisions, expecting the developers to get the information out of you.
