The initial process began with a phone screen with a recruiter. Following that, I was set up for a pair programming session.
The initial contact with the recruiter provided a lot of helpful information. They even offered a few resources on how to prepare for a technical interview.
However, the pair programming interviewer was not helpful at all. When we reached the CoderPad, the interviewer simply copy-pasted a block of text with little explanation. They did a poor job of explaining the problem, and a significant amount of time was spent just trying to understand the request.
The interviewer typed, copy-pasted, and moved text around rapidly while attempting to explain, creating a disorganized experience.
Finally, once I understood the basic question, I was able to approach a solution. I devised a solution, and the interviewer admitted I had solved the problem.
The interview was scheduled for a full hour, and a considerable amount of time remained. However, the interviewer stated they had no further questions, and the session concluded.
The recruiter had described a multi-step, friendly process, mentioning that all decisions went to a committee. None of that seemed to occur.
Instead, they scheduled an engineer for an interview who performed poorly. I suspect they gave a negative assessment to the recruiter, even though I answered the single question correctly with time to spare. After that, the process ended.
It was a medium-level LeetCode question.
