Process

Applied through a university career fair.

The process took several weeks.

Next, I had a phone interview. The interviewer was punctual and very friendly. We completed one algorithm coding question.

Following that, I was invited for an on-campus interview with the recruiters. We discussed my resume and I completed two coding problems. The last five minutes were dedicated to asking questions.

Questions

I answered two algorithm coding questions. The phone interview involved a find path problem. The on-campus interview featured one question from LeetCode, with difficulty ranging from medium to hard.

Pros: Beautiful office. Pantry, corporate perks, and a summer party. Work is rewarding and not too overwhelming. The experience here is well recognized and valuable for future employment.

Cons: Very outdated technology! There is code still written in C and FORTRAN. The MSG is terrible, and you are forced to use it every day, sending/losing emails. Politics! Although, to be fair, the amount of politics is very reasonable for a company this size. BAs hissing down your neck, and you do have to work overtime sometimes.

Pros: A great place to work at the intersection of finance and technology. A great building and perks in New York City. They provide in-house training for employees and offer involvement in social activities.

Cons: Management is not supportive of international employees in their visa applications and green card applications. They try to exploit people who need sponsorship.

Cons: You don't know what the REAL project requirements are until they are 3 days from due. Have to work with stupid financial market conventions that make no sense. The code written here is terrible, and nobody has the time to police it.
