I applied online and received a call from a recruiter. I was then scheduled for a first-round interview.
It felt like the interviewer was not well-prepared. When I asked for more clarity on a question, he responded, "Don't complicate things."
He initially asked for my approach and then commented on its time complexity, asking if I could enhance it. The time complexity needed to be determined "in the air," and the enhancement was expected through "thinking in the air."
Somehow, I started coding. He continuously questioned my approach without me even completing my code. I am not sure how he was expecting an optimal solution without a brute-force approach.
After the interview, I felt I needed to think twice if offered this position.
File entries, of service and their start/stop times. Return the top k services that have the most execution time. Since he mentioned files, I was not sure whether we needed to read from the file or how the program would get input. "Don't complicate things" was the reply I received.
