Pros

Good benefits. Flexible work hours. Cozy work environment. If you have no ambition in life and are willing to settle for the status quo, this is the perfect company for you.

Cons

There's little challenge to the works we do around here. The company has become so supplier-oriented that there's little in-house engineering/design. Instead, we engineers are turned into mini-program managers tasked with overseeing suppliers and fetching papers and signatures. Worse, all the papers are handled as if it were back in the 60's and 70's, when there were no electronic signatures, and a lot of time is wasted by us engineers just to make the report 'look' nice. There's little support from non-engineering functions; a lot of times it's the engineers who are supporting the non-engineering functions.

Advice to Management

If we keep relying on outside sources for all the real engineering work, someday we are going to (if not already) lose our competitive edge to our competitors who do their own design work. They will have an edge over us because they can offer technology or solutions that can't just be bought from outside sources.
