Brex is moving incredibly fast with a very high bar for talent. Brex's biggest chance of success is due to its people.
The business is going upmarket and it's requiring us to slow down and build durable products. This is proving hard for some parts of the company.
The company in many ways still operates with a hero culture, and sustainable processes are still nascent. I think this will get fixed.
We're going to win if we focus.
Make good long-term product decisions, not just the ones that will close a deal.
It was an unstructured process. The cultural interview didn't cover culture. The whiteboard was led by an inexperienced engineer. It felt more like a chat than a real evaluation. They took two weeks to return and give generic feedback.
Extreme and disorganized. The recruiter couldn’t get responses back from the hiring team for over a week at a time. The whole process took months on end. I ended up taking another offer.
