Pros

Brex actually cares about employee wellbeing and listens to feedback. I have not seen this level of genuine caring at any other company.

  • We submitted feedback that we wanted more time to learn and develop skills. LT set up a day where no one was obligated to work and everyone was encouraged to spend their time self-learning.
  • Brex sends us holiday gifts, quarterly L&D stipends, and monthly WFH stipends.
  • Rewarding our hard work over the last year, the company gave every engineer off on a random Friday. They were encouraged to "decompress" and even given $75 stipends to spend on whatever.
Cons

The same you'd find at any startup. Priorities shift over time. It's a bit hard to tell what will deliver the most value, and some engineering decisions become painful and require rearchitecting.

Advice to Management

LT is doing everything right, in my opinion. We need to move fast to capture market share.

They're laser-focused on making this happen by honing the product, keeping employees happy, and listening to feedback.
