Pros

Chime is the best SF startup I've worked for in terms of company culture, ability to make an impact, and do the best work of my career.

  • The product team is strong, and everyone truly cares about building the best possible financial tools for our members. Everyone is invested in hearing and following up on member feedback, engineers included.
  • Our leadership team has handled work from home during the COVID-19 outbreak with grace and empathy. Communication from the exec team is transparent.
  • A stable company that is actively growing during such an uncertain time period. The product and business plan is solid, and we're focusing on taking it to the next level as we scale.
  • Compensation is on par with top startups in SF, and we now have 401k match!
Cons
  • Growing pains that come from increasing headcount quickly.
  • Tools and processes are still maturing as the company grows, so there is room for inefficiency and chaos.
  • Being a remote-first company is currently not part of Chime's DNA, so being 100% remote during COVID has had its share of collaboration challenges.
  • Representation of women and POC in the engineering org is not great (both at the IC and leadership level).
Advice to Management

We should strive to recruit and retain more folks from underrepresented groups.
