Pros

Work with smart people on interesting projects.

Engineers have a good connection with the sales team, not isolated like on many companies.

Cons

A fast pace isn't everyone's cup of tea. High productivity is expected but not always rewarded as differentially as it should be. A lack of goal setting and annual reviews causes surprises at raise and bonus time.

Advice to Management

Train managers in giving feedback – not just praise, but also what can I do better. Am I screwing some things up?

I’ve seen people who were terminated, and probably should have been. But it came as a total shock because they’d never been criticized to their face. It’s too bad because they might have improved if they’d been told that there was an issue and what they needed to demonstrate better.
