It was insanely lucrative. I made almost as much in bonuses as I did for salary: 80% as a retention bonus and 25% as profit sharing.
There was just a sense of no one having any actual drive or initiative. I kept getting told not to do things.
Do more internal innovation.
Right now, Cisco only innovates by buying startups.
