Pros
  • Work-Life Balance
  • You'll get to interact with hardware and see how your software runs, apart from just writing it.
  • New opportunities in the areas of Cloud Computing, SDN, and IoT.
Cons
  • Depending on the team, after a few months, everything gets slack and you'll hit the career saturation point.
  • Lots of old people; old ways of doing things.
  • Layoffs/re-orgs almost always trickle down to engineers. Managers/directors/VPs hardly get laid off, even though they are dumb and lack vision.
  • Bureaucracy.
  • Too many fools running the show.
Advice to Management

Too many dumb VPs, Directors, and Managers compared to engineers, who do the real work. Please clean the leadership and make the workplace better.
