Pros

An excellent company to learn routing, switching, and computer networks.

Interesting work.

Many opportunities to learn and apply technology.

Cisco's following in the networking field is widespread and equal to none, making it a very nice addition to the resume.

  • Many opportunities to innovate.
  • Good compensation.
  • Good benefits.
  • A flexible work environment.
Cons

Recently, there have been too many senseless changes in direction, causing turmoil. There are too many layers of middle managers and vice presidents imposing their own personal agendas on the development and engineering groups.

Advice to Management

Keep your eye on the ball. Avoid wasteful reorganisation, which might impact design and product support. Sometimes re-org is necessary (by product or by function), but don't change direction 180 degrees at every turn and back, lest it impact product quality and supportability.
