Pros

Options awarded prior to the dotcom bust can be worth millions.

Good outplacement services.

Some managers have integrity.

Cons

Long hours. Good performers can be laid off for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Layoffs focus on those with 10+ years of experience. Managers can write reviews that are entirely political, with no consideration of the work completed. In PDI, they laid off almost everyone in SJ, while the entire management hierarchy planned their own exits – awful.

Advice to Management

If you want loyal employees, show them the loyalty they deserve.

John Chambers - do you remember the core values you told us to embrace at our birthday breakfasts? What happened to them?
