Pros
  • Good in most ways (but see the big con below)
  • I worked for an acquired company. That org is awesome.
  • Excellent benefits.
  • Interesting projects, decent growth opportunities.
  • In general, Cisco tries to "do the right things".
Cons

Cisco does mass layoffs about every 6 months. This creates a huge amount of anxiety. It negatively affects productivity and morale. If this wasn't the case, I'd give Cisco about 2 more stars.

Other downsides, less major:

  • Clunky internal tools such as Webex, HiringSpace.
  • Meeting and process heavy.
  • General disconnect between top management and worker bees. Chirpiness about "AI revolution" whilst layoffs continue.
Advice to Management

Do something about the frequent layoffs. Cisco cannot attract top talent. Other people, like myself, are getting tired of the glum morale and will likely leave.
