Process

I was reached out by the recruiter.

The first call was a standard recruiter call, mostly a background check and expectations match.

After that, I had a technical question-and-answer interview with a senior engineer from the team. I think the questions weren't too difficult, but their expectations were too high. Perhaps they are too early in the hiring process for this role because the interviewer mentioned he hadn't received a defined format from the organization, so he was just going to ask random questions.

Which, frankly, felt like an alignment issue between the c-level and engineers. Also, it felt like too much to expect from a candidate to know what one specific eBPF hook does, or so. Like, come on, it's open-source code; it can be found online if the basics are clear.

I also never heard from them after that call. I had to go and check their job portal to find out the stage of my application, which personally I think is rude.

Questions

As the job was eBPF-related, most questions focused on that and my experience. Topics included how eBPF programs work, the differences between ring buffers and perf buffers, and how LSM hooks function.
