I was reached out to by a recruiter and they were supposed to schedule an initial screen with the manager. There was no communication from their side, so I had to reach out to them. Finally, the screening was scheduled.
After the initial screen, I was asked to work on a project. The project had two phases:
After the design phase, I met with a Crowdstrike Engineer for a design review. He was very helpful, and the review went well. I identified a couple of improvements to my design during this meeting.
Then came the implementation phase, where I was to implement the design. I was given four days to complete it. I implemented the solution and tested it with several base cases and some negative test cases.
When I provided the solution, I mentioned that it could definitely be improved with more time. The biggest constraint for me was working on this project while also managing a demanding full-time job that requires 10-12 hours of investment daily.
I believe they overlooked the important detail that I was not working on the project full-time. Expecting full-time commitment under these circumstances is not a valid expectation.
The project was not trivial, and I invested a significant amount of time to implement a solution that passed 90% of the test cases. However, I was rejected because one of the negative test cases for the input failed.
Overall, I feel it was a complete waste of my time. I am glad I prioritized my actual work over this project, given the outcome.
Questions on my experience.
