Backend Engineer (Node Js + AWS) Interview Experience - Hungary

May 1, 2023
Negative ExperienceNo Offer

Process

  1. Call with HR (around 20 minutes)

  2. After the call with HR, I received a homework task that needed to be completed in 3 hours. It was a JavaScript, Express, and Sequelize project requiring the addition of new endpoints and fixing one existing issue.

  3. Meeting with two team leads. First, they showed me JavaScript code and explained its output and reasoning. Then, they presented a task and asked how I would solve it, allowing me to code via screen share. They also inquired about my AWS experience.

At the end of the meeting, everything looked good and went well. However, they declined my application a few days later without providing a reason. As a maximalist person, this was a bit frustrating. Many people work from Israel (everyone I contacted is from Israel), so perhaps this is the reason. I think they prefer candidates from Israel.

Questions

One of them was shown a JavaScript code. What will it print, and why?
