I had an initial process with Flatworld:
Flatworld's process was good overall, quite automated. Deel's TAM interview felt okay, but after two days, I received a follow-up email saying they were rejecting me because they want people happy working +40 hours a week, working overtime more than 4 days a week, and they want that because they are in hypergrowth.
It feels very odd to be asked if you are okay working overtime. It's also hard to say yes when you don't know the team, the projects, etc.
Finally, in a world where the trend is to reduce hours to 6 or 7 per day by maintaining productivity, being asked about feelings about working +8 hours a day feels weird again. High growth isn't because people are working overtime. It's due to effective, passionate, and pragmatic people who are productive within 8 hours a day. Assessments should be focused on that.
If you still want to hire people explicitly willing/happy to work +8 hours a day, please mention it in job descriptions and do not hide it behind interview questions. I spent a lot of time going through the whole process.
What do you think about working overtime?
